Such a great story. I, too, have a bowl of bone and ivory dominos out in our barn room. It makes me like her that much more, hearing this charming story of her looking for specific ones!

There is a single domino with an embossed butterfly on the back of it sitting on my keyboard as I type. It came to me via a package from the Netherlands from a very talented and creative woman who thought it would be fun to include. I think from now on I shall see it and think of Nora Ephron. Just seeing her name associated with a production would guarantee quality. And maybe, just maybe, if I am at a loss for words or thought, I shall hold the domino and hope to be blessed with the caliber of wit and insight Nora Ephron shared with the world.

I also loved Nora, and knowing she was a customer of yours makes it all the more sweeter. “Sleepless In Seattle” aired awhile back and I cried so hard to think that this wonderful lady that we all loved is gone.
Just wanted to tell you that I love your blog, and love the peek into your life. A few years ago I gave my daughter your red passport holder and she loves it still. I also have beautiful glasses and dishes that I treasure that have been bought at your shop.
Hoping you are here for many many years to come. Seattle wouldn’t be Seattle without you!

Hi Ted,

Thank you for this post. I was so saddened (and surprised) to learn of Nora’s passing. I have been rereading her books and rewatching her movies with the commentary on so I can hear her voice and learn of the many clever little things she added to her films that I never picked up on before.

I hope someone found the domino with a 6 and a 3!!

Ted….this is so weird. Grant’s working late and I’m at my computer…Sleepless in Seattle on in the background. I’ve seen it a million times, but this time it made me think of my new friend in Seattle. You! Seeing this post about Nora at this moment just makes me smile. And the reference to the hunt for the perfect gift…which a reader recently wrote to me that you helped her do!
