5 Pound Bag of Blueberries

20150726-075412.jpg I just could not pass it up. We are big fans of the blueberry. My favorite organic farmer at the Market had these heaping bags yesterday. One came out to the island with us last eve. My mind is swirling with the possibilities–crostata, crisp, over oatmeal, muffins. What are some of your favorite ways to use blueberries?

A lovely Sunday to you all,
TKW

  1. Ted – my favorite has been Rachel Coyle’s Blueberry-Pecan Galette recipe – from her brand new Coyle Bake Shop up in Greenwood. If you haven’t been then run, don’t walk. Besides fantastic baked goods, she is one swell person to boot. The recipe is on the cover of this month’s issue of Bon Appetit magazine and can be found here on line: http://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/blueberry-pecan-galette It’s super easy and delicious!

    Summer blueberry gin!:-)

  3. Definitely bake Ina Garten’s blueberry cake with the crumb topping. Recipes on the Food Network site or google it It is the best! Of course pie and scones rank pretty high in my book. Blueberry jam made with the Ball electirc jelly jam maker is a cinch no watching and stirring needed and can make smaller jar quantities. Homemade ice cream is also yummy! Happy blueberrying!

  4. Oh, yes! The afternoon of the 26th I drove 25 miles further up the McKenzie River (OR) where I was staying with friends, to pick organic blueberries. I got 9 pounds in about 90 min. Home now, they are in my freezer to be enjoyed over the next 12 months. A favorite to make with fresh ones is lemon blueberry scones (and have a couple of friends in for morning coffee and scones on the patio). I enjoy your blog.
