Bramble House on Vashon Island

September 5, 2016

You know I love sharing when we have a stellar meal out.  Last eve we had one on our beloved Vashon Island with our visiting friend Cara.  Wow, wow, wow, that was some meal.  Bramble House is fairly new to our island and we have been so looking forward to giving it a try.  Chef-owner Lia Lira is a Vashon native who was an executive sous chef for Jean-Georges Vongerichten as well as a contestant on Top Chef.  The space was formerly an antique shop we frequented often, so it was fun to see how she transformed it.  Manners and hunger had me not taking many photos during the meal, so apologies this is not a more visual post. But trust me, everything was camera ready, beautiful and beyond tasty.  Here is what we had between the 3 of us.  To get us rolling we had grilled focaccia with Morrocan spiced olives with mint olive oil for dipping the bread.

Cara started with roasted beets with summer melon, cilantro cream, beet pesto and pickled watermelon rind. Then she had the duck breast with a chanterelle & duck confit crepe, cherry gastrique and pea shoots.

TPS had the yellow corn soup with sautéed corn, Spanish chorizo and chive oil.  Then he moved on to seafood stew of olive oil poached halibut, seared scallops, new potatoes & gremolata.

I started with the house made mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes, swiss chard and mint oil.  Then seared rockfish with ricotta gnocchi, sautéed corn and radish.

Seriously, I am just drooling all over again typing this the next morning. Everything was SO good!  The service was impeccable and friendly.  The meal was amazing from start to finish.  Oh, and I forgot to write down what we had for dessert, but we shared all 3 things they offered and we were all smiling quite big when we left.  So hop on that ferry and head to Bramble House, you will be so happy you did.  Tell them “The Teds” sent you.
