A Saturday Thought

Yellow Fluttery Goodness

Flower Friday is all about a little fluttery yellow tulip goodness. Running down the middle of the dining table in little vintage bottles greeting guests all along the way. They bring lots of thoughts of Spring on these chilly days. Have a lovey week-end everyone!

Happy Valentine’s Day to You

I have loved this day since I was a little kid. Making cards and handing them out to my friends at school. To me it is a time to show those you care for a little extra love. In this day, I think that sentiment rings even stronger and more true. Sending tons of love to you all. Happy Valentine’s Day! X, Ted

Valentine Gifts Galore at WK

Yesterday was one of our first ‘real’ full days of the shops being open the whole day in more than a week. The snow did a number on retail for Valentine’s Day to be sure. That said, we are brimming with all sorts of sweet treats for everyone on your list. Our Open House was cancelled on Saturday so bubbly & cider will be poured tomorrow in honor of the day. Our card baskets are bursting with lovely heart filled options. We will be wrap, wrap, wrapping away as I like to say. Hope to see you in the next few days! X, T

Here’s Looking At You

Over the years we have been drawn to and collected many paintings of faces, grouping them all in our guest bedroom at The Gainsborough. Portraits have a ‘moment in time’ feel. Even though they are painted by a variety of artists, there is a similarity that makes them a collective whole. They are always on my wish list when out vintage shopping for the stores. You just never know when you might turn a corner and be looked upon by the newest member of the collection.

Ted’s Tip No. 188

Sometimes all you need is one magnificent bloom.

A Sunday Thought

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

I snapped this moments before hopping in the car to head home yesterday. We closed both shops around 1. Our goal today is to get both shops open by noon. But again, that is a goal. The week ahead of snow is pretty unprecedented. We have lived here 30+ years and have never seen anything quite like this forecast. With all of our divine hills and lack of a large fleet of snow trucks to salt, our fine city becomes a bit, ok make that quite a bit of a challenge getting around. We will certainly try and get the shops open each day, but our awesome WK staff lives in all parts of the city and beyond, so them making it in and their safety is my number one concern at this time. We thank you all for your understanding. Best option this week is to call each store directly before you think of heading our way to do some shopping. Our Market shop is 206.443.6281 and our First & Spring location is 206.652.8350. Upside, it is really, really pretty. Be safe everyone!

Entry Hall Hyacinth

There might be snow on the way but our entry hall in town is thinking about Spring. Hyacinth have a way of doing that. A new Whole Foods opened a few blocks away with a fun flower section. I snapped these right up as I knew their scent and the sight of them would makes us ever so happy on these chilly and soon to be snowy days. Happy Flower Friday all!

Valentine’s Day Open House

Well, this is a funny situation. I just finished reading an article TPS sent me about a big snow storm headed our way late Friday. This Saturday we are planning our Valentine’s Day Open House at the shops. SO, I will say this. We are ‘hoping’ to have our Valentine’s Day Open House this Saturday. If we do have a big snow storm, give us a call to confirm that we are open or check our social media channels before braving the elements and making your way down. Arghhhhhh, sorry to be on the fence about this one. The fabulous Seattle hills and snow sadly do not mix well. Growing up in the Midwest where snow can be several feet and folks barely blink, here, we are just not set up for it as other parts of the country are, as it is rare. Oh my gosh, how boring, I am talking about the weather! Anywho, the shops are brimming with all sorts of treats to give those you love/like. We will do our darndest to be there if it snows, but if not, know we will be there just as soon as we can. Happy Thursday!
