Albert Ponnelle Bourgogne Réserve De La Chèvre Noire Pinot Noir

From my friends at  Peloton Imports, this is one heck of a bottle for 20 bucks. I have been trying my darndest to highlight wines that many folks can try by picking up a bottle or more, online. This is just a fab wine, whatever the price. And yes, I adore the bottle. Every glorious detail…

From their site:  Garnet core to a soft ruby rim. A broodingly seductive nose of cherry compote, cola, Chanterelle mushrooms, white pepper and just a slightly jazzy/bright note of cranberry on the tail end. Medium feel with nicely integrated acidity and fine tannins, the black cherry notes come through elements of earth, clove and allspice. Truly amazing value for Burg… bring on the Black Goat!

Albert Ponnelle Bourgogne Réserve De La Chèvre Chardonnay

Yes, the bottle got me, I will freely admit that.  Come on, look at how amazing every detail is!  The wire netting, the fonts, and the goat sealed the deal.  Plus I knew what was inside would be equally as stellar as this bottle is imported by my friends who are customers of WK at Peloton Imports.  I have been searching for more wine options to share on Wine Wednesday that can be enjoyed by many as they ship so you can just click on the link at the end of the entry if you end up not finding this tasty Chardonnay in your neighborhood grocer or wine shop.

From their site:  Albert Ponnelle is an estate and a negociant with deep roots in Burgundy. Pierre-Lazare Ponnelle founded the business in Beaune in 1870, and today the estate is run by Pierre Ponnelle, the fifth generation of the family to take the helm. The Bourgogne Réserve de la Chèvre Noire wines come from the Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits. They are partly aged in oak barrels. The names of the wines are an affectionate nod to an old regional tale about a famous black goat who was known for drifting from the herd to snack on choice grapes in the best vineyards. Each year Albert Ponnelle creates a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir under the Chèvre Noir label as an homage to the black goat with a connoisseur’s taste.

Gold in color with a fine sheen and brilliance. The nose is forward with notes of lemon, baked pear, vanilla bean and a hint of caramel/butterscotch. Possessing a medium-full body, this is well-rounded and soft on the approach. Lemon and mineral shows on the forefront with finishing notes of Tart Tatin, Crème Anglaise and graceful acidity.  Peloton Imports

Château Haut Peyruguet Blanc

Sipping a super chilly white on a hot & muggy day rates pretty high in my book.  The heat has been all we had hoped for on this stay.  All the doors and windows open creating a breeze throughout the house.  Entertaining is always high on our list when we are here, with a mix of family and friends from near and far.  We served this very tasty Château Haut Peyruguet Blanc on our last visit when we hosted a big birthday bash.  I had it shipped from Peloton Imports in Napa that is owned by a WK customer in Seattle.  The quality of this wine for the price at 11 bucks a bottle is out of this world.  At a penny to ship more than 6 bottles, it is easy to stock up for a large gathering.  “Robe of light straw yellow. Intense, highly aromatic nose of white peaches, passion fruit, green limes and box-tree. The palate is marked by Sauvignon’s typical freshness. Well-balanced with lovely flavors of black currants and a dry clean fresh finish.”
