Be Your Own DecoratorApril 7, 2012
‘Be Your Own Decorator’ has been the book I have had out on our coffee table this past week. Written by Susanna Salk, her idea for the book stemmed from taking inspiration and cues from today’s top designers.
Of course my favorite photo spread was of the Paris apartment of San Francisco designer Stephen Shubel and his partner Woody Biggs. We have carried Woody’s work at Watson Kennedy over the years. The lay-out, color scheme and use of objects is perfection in their tiny magical home in my beloved Paris.
Color, mix, arrangement, balance and whimsy–are categorized, photographed and described wonderfully. The above wall in John Derian’s entry hall reminding me of one of his lovely decoupage pieces we sell.
The author writes, “That the biggest rule of all is that there really are no rules, except to be confident about your choices.” I could not agree more.
