Andrew Will “Champoux Vineyard” Sorella

January 4, 2017

The first Wine Wednesday of the year starts off with a bang, with a really special bottle.  It was a gift from Robin Pollard who roasts and blends up the crazy good coffee we are now selling at WK.  Her husband owns Andrew Will Winery on Vashon Island.  On a tour of the winery, their home and sensational grounds, she presented us with this bottle.  I knew we were in for a treat.  We enjoyed it last week at WestWard the first night we were back to kick-off our annual week after Christmas stay.  Oh my word, heaven.  On so many levels.  While this bottle was a 2011, the below verbiage is for the 2012.  If you can get your hands on any vintage, do.  You will be in for a memorable bottle.

From the maker:  Textured, balanced and rich, our signature wine is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon from the Champoux Vineyard; 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc. The gorgeously nose shows a blend of cassis, graphite, river stones, tobacco leaf with hints of black currants and dark rasberry. The palate shows a superb full-bodied, balanced, structured wine that integrates a combination of smooth tannins and bright acids. It finishes with excellent length and grip, on the pure and complex finish.
