Reflecting

December 16, 2017

My 91 year old mom has said to me for as long as I can remember that as the years pass time seems to whiz by quicker. As a kid I had no idea what she was talking about, as Summer and Holidays seemed to linger dreamily on forever. As an adult, I am starting to get what she was talking about, and I am doing everything I can to thwart that clock from ticking so darn fast. Part of that is taking time, each day if possible, to take a moment/moments to sit still and reflect. Reflect on the day, the days, things I am grateful for, things I would like to accomplish, random thoughts, specific thoughts. As TPS made eggs over easy served on top of a toasted bagel, quite possibly the greatest simple food ever (he writes with a very large smile…) I sat in my favorite chair with Bailey slammed up right next to me, I sipped a glass of bubbly and just let my mind wander. Oh my, it felt so good. The retail marathon is at full gallop, which I adore on so many levels, but by day end the still & quiet is hugely welcome. Time to slow that clock down, to re-energize, to reflect, to give thanks.
