Hess Select Sauvignon Blanc 2018

April 21, 2021

Wine & Dine Wednesday about a wine and a bottle that grabbed me the moment I saw it on the grocery store shelves. Hess has been a favorite of ours since we visited their vineyard ages ago in the Napa Valley. Sauvignon Blanc is also a personal favorite white. The blue of the bottle fits right into the color theme of most things at WestWard. Ding, ding, ding—we have a winner! It would become our Summer ‘house wine’ out on the island this year. Super easy drinking wine at a super easy price. A combo I love.

Here is a little wine speak from the maker: This wine is a classic expression of Sauvignon Blanc fermented in stainless steel without oak to show off the naturally bright, refreshing citrus fruit flavors. On the nose, it is led by ripe honeydew melon and lime zest with a subtle presence of apricot. The wine is beautifully structured with flavors of yellow stone fruit punctuated by notes of golden delicious apples, all of which are balanced by a bright acidity that leaves a crisp, pleasing finish. This Sauvignon Blanc is lighter in body and truly easy to enjoy, and you won’t be surprised to find me relaxing with a glass at the end of the day.
