Tulips & Kale

April 5, 2022

A quick stop by the Forest Garden Farm farm stand produced a divine fluttery bunch of tulips and a bundle of gorgeous kale. The kale was so cool looking I knew instantly that it would be part of the table setting. Stellar greens can be incredibly visual, why not treat them like flowers, right? From there, a beautifully blue vintage small French pitcher which is new to the shop became the starter for everything else on the table. I took the blue as a sign and ran with it. Light blue seersucker napkins were called into action for placemats. I was determined to make the table spring-y even though it was pouring rain and quite chilly out. The long zinc dining table has been outside under the eaves just waiting for the warm and sunshine to arrive. Just not happening quite yet in our little pocket of the PNW. It was majorly blustery so we hunkered down inside with a big fire. I am working on perfecting my chicken & dumplings recipe, which seemed like just the thing on a cold and rainy island night.
