Over the years I have written much about the life lessons I learned from my father in both his actions and by his advice. Many are tenets I live my life by each day. Empathy was at the top of his list. “Put yourself in their shoes,” was something I heard often. This school shooting in Nashville the other day a perfect example. Put yourself in the shoes of those who lost a family member. It is that simple. I don’t care what side of the aisle you sit politically. Feel what those families are feeling for one second and it will bring you to a place where we must correct the path we are on.
