Showing Up

We attended a surprise birthday supper/party recently for a beloved friend who was turning 60. Part of the surprise was some of us attending the gathering as it was not in Seattle. Oh it was such fun! While chatting with the birthday girl, she made such a perfect observation. “Friendship is about showing up.” It is such a simple thought that is 100% true. Often I think as humans we wonder how we can be better at things—like friendship, and at times can overcomplicate what is needed. Showing up takes effort, but it so absolutely worth it. Be it a milestone event or just a normal day. Quite possibly the best gift you can give someone. No ribbon or wrapping paper required.
