The Next Chapter Begins
February 18, 2025
The renovations are now complete on our guest cottage at Hawthorne, dubbed Little Hawthorne. The sweet house we bought in 2019 was in need of a major sprucing up. It has great bones, and we were excited to make it sing. Covid got in the way and the project just kept getting pushed aside until we had the time and energy to give to it. Now was the time! Caretaker Bill has two sons who are amazing contractors. They do meticulous work and are a pleasure to work with. They finished the project for us last week and sent photos as we are back in Seattle. In the coming weeks I will share some before and after shots with you all. Today, we start with the kitchen. It received a complete overhaul. From floor to walls to wiring to all new appliances and counters. It all went away and was thoughtfully rebuilt. It is absolutely how we envisioned it. We love cork floors, so we found the most handsome cork we could source. Same goes for butcher block countertops. Huge fan of bead board so they became the walls. Favorite appliances fill it all in. Open shelving something we always do, as we think it makes cooking and setting the table super efficient. We wanted a kitchen our family & friends could instantly feel comfortable in. Our hunting & gathering for furniture and art expeditions found us a swell landscape painting that pulled it all together. The next chapter begins!
