Dahlias & Limelight Hydrangea

August 8, 2025

Flower Friday this week about a big bundle of dinner plate dahlias gracing our dining table in town, and the limelight hydrangea that have grown beautifully tall at Little Hawthorne. The flower stalls at the Pike Place Market are brimming with bucket after bucket of dahlias. I got a bit flower high as I walked through the other day. I was in search of dinner plate sized, as had yet to find any this season and they are personal favorites. I found one grower who had one lone bucket of them, so once I spotted them, I knew they were coming home with me to live in a scrumptious clear vessel from Prague. It does not get used often, but I knew it would be perfect for the heartiness of this arrangement. The combo did not disappoint. We have been enjoying the heck out of these beauties all week. The second installment of flower happiness from the Hudson Valley where our limelight hydrangeas in front of both houses are absolutely spectacular this year, growing taller & taller from past years. This photo from the guest cottage where they look like they are hugging the house. Such a treat to see them doing so well and how fun for all of our guests to enjoy them while we are away. Everyone have a spectacular August weekend doing all the things you enjoy. XX, Ted2+H
