A Cap With History

Often, one special piece of clothing can complete an outfit for the day. In this case, it was a party. Our niece Hannah’s 30th birthday was the first Saturday after we arrived in the Hudson Valley. Her parents live in Troy, which is a little less than an hour from us. They were throwing a party to celebrate the milestone. The assignment, come dressed as a favorite literary character. Of course, I had to arrive as Watson! TPS was Sherlock Holmes. Hendricks, the hound of the Baskervilles. The easy part of my outfit was it is pretty much how I dress anyway. Insert large smile. But the vintage cashmere cap was my grandfather’s which my father also wore for many years. It was fun as well as meaningful to incorporate a bit of family history into the outfit. The cap also a reminder of how well made things were made long, long ago. Plus I love any occasion to wear an ascot!
