An Orchid Meets A Hyacinth

Our friend Elizabeth visited last week from Rye and stayed in the guest house for a night. It was so good to see her and catch up! She is also a fabulous gift giver. She arrived with this beautiful and oh so sweet orchid in a perfectly green vessel. It stayed at the cottage for all the other guests this stay to enjoy too. The local grocery store carries hyacinth in cool clear bulb vases each year at this time. We have amassed quite a collection of them over the years. I love dotting them around the houses. The bloom, bulb and leaves are pretty but the roots are also a big part of the spectacular show of it all. Even on these bitter cold days (which we love, btw) the hyacinth are a lovely reminder that indeed, Spring is on the way. Happy Flower Friday everyone!
