The Most Spectacular Tulip, And My Eye
April 24, 2026
This Flower Friday post an update on my eye as well as one of my all-time favorite tulips I shot many years ago. I ran across the image awhile back, and it still makes me smile big. The bits of yellow absolutely sublime. Now, my eye! Last week on Tuesday I was spending the day reworking displays here & there at the Home shop. While working on one, I was crouching down and stood up quickly, hitting my head incredibly hard on a metal handle of a vintage French shelving rack. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but throughout the day it felt like I had something like dust in my eye. It wasn’t until we got home after having supper out that my eyesight in my right eye went majorly wonky. Now I will get into some technical terms. What had occurred was a partial vitreous detachment. Yikes! This was confirmed the next morning at my eye doctor. I could not get an appointment with a retina specialist until the other day, so I spent a week majorly resting the eye and staying away from bright light, which bothered it immensely. So much of this detail is boring, sorry! I wanted to keep this brief. End result once I saw the specialist, I had numerous tears around the retina that they used a laser to close them up. A bit like out of a futuristic movie. Ahhhhh, modern medicine! End result, I am on the mend and my eyesight is starting to get back to normal. Aside from some of the fluid that they call ‘floaters’ which messes with the vision ever so slightly, that I will have to get used to as it takes quite awhile for the eye/brain to adjust to. Thank you to all who have reached out this past week with kind words of concern. They were majorly appreciated and brightened me up tremendously. I send you all much, much love. Ted
