This & That
April 28, 2026
As I work away on my third book this year, I am majorly reflecting on what the design of home means to me/us. These bookshelves at WestWard pretty much sums up my/our philosophy. Live with what you love. Big, small, expensive, inexpensive—if it makes your heart sing, you are on the right track. Here abandoned birds nests collected over the years from our property live atop white McCoy pottery we started collecting when we first met, now close to 40 years ago. Actually, make that 38 to be exact. When we hear this number, we often laugh and say, who are these people! I digress. Our homes and their belongings tell a story of your lives and travels and interests. Shells collected on beach walks, vintage French matchstrikers found at flea markets in Paris, artwork gifted to each other on anniversaries, anything with the number 11 on it. The list goes on and on. We love the layer upon layer of meaning all the ‘things’ possess.
