Memorial Day

On this Memorial Day, a day of remembrance for those who lost their lives serving our country, I think of my Uncle George. None of my siblings ever got to meet him. He looked so much like his sisters, our mom and our Aunt Dorothy. I think of the life he could have had, and how his death impacted his family. My family. My mother answering the door when the news was delivered. How that moment stayed with her, her entire life. So many families have their George. How heartbreaking it is to think of that. We must never forget the price of war. Past, present, and future.
