Refreshed Windows

Hit the ground running the minute I got back to the shops. Heather had spent the last two days painting the First & Spring windows two lovely shades of blue for me, so they were ready the moment I was back and we could get the creativity started. Window design is all about telling a visual story. Folks walk and drive by quickly, so there need to be elements that grab the attention and eye right away. Often, it can be one large thing, or a variety of many small that equal a big attention grabber. For the above, it is definitely the red checked tablecloth on the vintage French garden table. Everything else in the window followed after that was set into place. I always have a story brewing in my brain which helps tell the visual story. The sailor is siting on the chair having a relaxing meal while looking out to the water watching the boats pass by. Below, the crazy beautiful lamps with the sublime shades I had made for them were the starting point of this window. A happy corner in a large living room where the table is set up as a bar with decanters to mix drinks and the below goods to make a cup of tea/coffee or pour a bit of bubbly. These are the stories I have brewing in my head while we create them. The goal is to have folks passing by have their own story that draws them in.
