Dunham Three Legged Red

20121212-065720.jpg This wine by Dunham Cellars of Walla Walla is named after their dog Port, who lost a leg as a puppy. Eric, one of the owners who we have had the pleasure of meeting (thanks Linda & Cam) rescued the dog who was then a puppy from being attacked by another dog. When I first heard the story of how this wine got the name, I was completely charmed. A wine named in honor of a loved dog ranks pretty high in my book. Then we tasted the excellent wine. This is table wine of the very highest quality. Dunham produces world class wines. Each year they blend a portion of their wine to make Three Legged Red. Using fruit from some of Washington’s finest vineyards and using the same barrels they use to age their award winning Cabernet, Merlots and Syrahs–they are able to create a really fabulous table wine. At under 20 bucks a bottle, it is quite tasty stuff. We had it last night with pork chops and it was perfect.
