Your Kind Words And An Update

June 4, 2020

I want to start off by saying a big THANK YOU to all of you who sent e-mails, notes, direct messages & texts checking in to see how we are doing and how the shops are faring with all that has been going on in downtown Seattle. To say it has been a unique few months would be a huge understatement. The short answer would be, we are doing just fine. The last few days with the rioting has been nerve wracking but all is holding steady at both shops. We have thanked our lucky stars we have been boarded up. It is such a complex time. I absolutely believe the protesting is what needs to happen. As a human being, we must stand up for injustice. As a businessman, watching over my business is also important. Add to all that the stresses of the coronavirus and trying to stay safe & healthy while also navigating the terrain of what this is all going to look like when the shops are given the green light to reopen. I am hearing heartbreaking stories of businesses that are choosing to shutter for good instead of reopening. This rattles me to my bones as these are people’s lives. Many of them I know or at least know of and have met. We thank our lucky stars each day that we have been around for as long as we have and have built an amazingly loyal following. So many of you have stepped up to the plate in such a big way these last few months, some of you ordering weekly. For that we are eternally grateful. We look so forward to reopening, hopefully in the next month is our guess, but that is up to our governor to decide when he feels it is safe to do so. Awhile back, we decided this would be the week we would spend out on the island. I really needed a chunk of time to wrap my head around my new book. The peacefulness out here just the tonic needed. I have gotten a fab start on that. The quiet has also been a blessing to be able to reflect on all that is going on in the world. While I certainly never intended for the blog to be a political platform, if you read with any regularity you certainly must clue into my beliefs on these matters. So it has been a time to rest, reflect, write, photograph and, of course, get some snuggling in with Bailey. We love a good challenge. Always have. This is when the competitive spirit kicks in. When our creativity kicks into overdrive. We will make it through all this. I must say, it is incredibly heartening and fills us with great strength to know so many of you are with us all along the way. XX, T2+B
