Ahhhhhh, a handsome vessel filled with a pot of paperwhite bulbs. Simplicity at its very finest. Each day they grow a bit taller. The lovely anticipation of the blooms. Then the heady scent of the flowers. The whole process a bit like life. You grow some each day. Some days more than others. The beauty is just not in the flowering, but in all the moments it takes to get there.
I often like snapping a shop shot right when I arrive in the morning when the overhead lights are still off. Or in the evening after we have closed up for the night. I love the peacefulness in the space. The quiet. The stillness. Particularly after a busy day when the space was filled with customers. You can still somewhat feel the energy in the room. But then it is time for the space to rest. It is when I get my best ideas for display. When I walk around in the stillness looking over everything. My mind racing with ideas.
So much yummy goodness, as I like to call it, gracing our shelves & website rows. To give. To keep. Or both.
What a fun, memorable day Saturday was! One, it was the kick-off to the holiday season with our first Open House. But it was also the start of celebrating the 25th anniversary of Watson Kennedy.
It was supposed to be a rainy day but that held off till very late in the afternoon. It ended up being a quite beautiful sunny day. Folks were happy—the energy in the shop quite something. Loved it!
Jeanne was in her ‘traditional’ spot surrounded by her works on the walls, with a vintage coupe of bubbly and a Murano tumbler of sparkling water. Also a tradition. She painted away the afternoon, which added a creativity in the air.
Mindy’s artwork in honor of the WK25 finding the perfect spot and a place of honor. We had tea towels made from all three of the incredibly special pieces Denise and Jeanne and Mindy made. Below the Denise Fiedler bubbly version. It was a day that was savored and will long be remembered.
When those naturally spectacularly beautiful moments happen. Soak it all in.
Let’s the festivities begin! A celebratory day awaits around all things Watson Kennedy today. It is our first Holiday Open House of the season at our First & Spring shop beginning at 10 o’clock this morning running throughout the day until 5:30. Bubbly & sparkling apple cider will be poured, music will fill the air. The shops are absolutely brimming with ‘just the right gifts’ to start your shopping and check a few or many off your gift list. It is also the kick-off our 25th WK anniversary celebrations. Stay tuned throughout the day for posts and reels with giveaways. It is so important to me that folks from near and far feel the love from us today. Gratitude is a top of the list feeling around these festivities. We thrived all these years because of you—our kind, stylish, beyond wonderful customers from around the globe. I get teary just typing this. It really has been and continues to be one incredible adventure with all of you, and in many ways I just feel like we are just getting started! A million THANKS for all the love & loyalty shown to us over these last 25 years.

Calligrapher extraordinaire, artist Bernard Maisner has a bit of his magical work that is part of our WK25 wrap. I was smiling from ear to ear wrapping gifts for customers with it yesterday.
