An Overflowing Bucket of Geraniums

September 1, 2023

A good number of years back, the kind folks at Country Living magazine gifted us with this brimming bucket of white geraniums for a shoot they were doing at WestWard. It was such a thoughtful & much loved gesture that we have continued to fill it with the same geraniums each year since. It is in the perfect spot on the deck to be enjoyed at pretty much every turn as soon as the weather turns nice in Spring, all the way up until the heavy chill begins in late Autumn. There is a beauty and simplicity to the white geraniums that make these a very special and memorable gift. They just had to be the Flower Friday blooms for the week. Happy first weekend in September! Everyone have a lovely Labor Day weekend. XX, T2

Market Shop Snippets

The Market shop refresh from a few weeks ago still tickles me so. It is a reminder for all of us that moving things around gives fresh eyes to things. Be it a bookshelf, side table, whole room or your entire home. The last few days I snapped away a few vignettes as we get ready for a busy holiday weekend ahead.

A Day on Anderson Island

August 30, 2023

We took a day trip on Sunday to visit friends on Anderson Island. It was time to catch up as well as a bit of a send-off supper for their son who is off to college soon. They made a spectacular paella that seemed to work perfectly into a Wine & Dine Wednesday post. Fresh mussels pulled from the waters right in front of their house. Local farm stand vegetables filled the dish. Their sweet pooch Lila scampering about as we enjoyed the day. Which turned into a swell eve as we savored the meal outside as the sun began to set.

This & That

Just In, all sorts of French goodness along with some much loved iconic art. Last week a big shipment of goods arrived from Paris. Chic glassware in many shapes & sizes, along with box after box of the very best teas. I also picked up close to 25 pieces of Hugo Guinness linoleum cut works of art from our framer. We collect vintage frames that then house the artwork. It was a busy week indeed unpacking and displaying and hanging. While the end result is what everyone sees, we do our darndest to enjoy the process all along the way from finding/sourcing/ordering, tracking the shipments, unpacking said shipments, cleaning the goods to a shiny sparkle, then ultimately displaying things on our shelves and shop walls. It is a shopkeepers circle of retail life of keeping things fresh and full and interesting and fun.

Ted’s Tip No. 448

My go-to for cooking white fish, like cod or halibut. Splash of white wine in the pan, fish on top. Then squeeze a lemon over the top, add pieces to the pan. Drizzle of olive oil over fish. Then a bit of salt to finish it all off. Cook in hot 400 degree oven until slightly firm.
