A busy day awaits on this Flower Friday. Some of my all-time favorite hydrangea graced my signing table at the Tuesday night pub day book signing party. A gift from our friend Erika. I am so fond of them they found their way onto the pages of the book too. Incredibly happy blooms. They will be well-traveled and loved as they make their way to Elliott Bay Book Company this evening, where I will be signing in the Little Oddfellows space from 6 to 7:30. I am hugely honored to be there as they are regarded as one of the finest independent bookstores in the country and an absolute institution in our fine city. The First Tomato Sandwich Of The Season

Ripe good sized tomatoes are just starting to show up in our neck of the woods in the PNW. Today was the day to have my first tomato sandwich of the season, and boy was it worth the wait. Forest Garden Farm so graciously set a few stellar tomatoes aside for us. I have had a fresh jar of Duke’s mayonnaise waiting just for this day. A generous amount of Jacobsen flake sea salt to really bring out the juices. A more than healthy amount of Duke’s slathered on a large size of toasted sourdough bread and I was off and running. These instantly take me back to my youth when I was training with a coach in Kentucky and would devour many of these a day. I find it most comforting how a taste of something can do just that. Cheers to tomato sandwiches!
Veuve Clicquot St-Germain Spritz

We taste tested these yummy Veuve Clicquot St-Germain spritz out on the island on Sunday to see if they would be the cocktail for the book signing party last night. They were a winner with us and a major winner with guests last eve. Refreshing and incredibly tasty. Simple to mix too. Here you go!
To a tall or good sized glass, fill with ice. Add 2 oz. Veuve Clicquot Champagne, 1 1/2 oz. St-Germain elderflower liqueur, 2 oz. club soda. Stir. Then add a big zest of lemon. Enjoy!

Today is the day! I have been running around getting things ready for the party this eve. I just stopped and thought, “I forgot to write my blog post!” So many people to thank and I want to do it properly with time, which is in short supply at the moment. So please know a much better post is coming your way in the coming days. But for now I am reveling in hydrangea that were a fabulous gift this morning and the Veuve bike that was delivered from them yesterday and what green pens to write with tonight and what I am going to wear. I am filled with so much gratitude and thanks and love to so many for the many opportunities I have been given. Please know, I never take a moment of it for granted.
