I’ll Take, Lamps, For the Win

The lamps I found at the show in New York in August were the winning element that started this window yesterday. I am so taken with their textural simplicity. They flank a new Hugo Guinness piece we just got back from the framer. From there the layering begins. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. I walk around the shop pulling goods, place them, and then do it all over again until the window is complete. Sort of like a puzzle. You try a piece, it does not fit, so you try another. Window design is part fantasy as well as highlighting items that tell the visual story you have in mind. The many folks who will walk by it each day and maybe one thing with catch their eye. I inhabit a bit of each window. A little piece of my personality or style comes through to tell a story. It is then up to each person who views it to find a piece of it that resonates with them.

Lamps, Lamps, Lamps

Lamps do more than light a room. They can create a mood, with the right wattage bulb. Placed just right, they can also make a stylish statement. We always have a slew of lamps set here and there at both shops. New shipments arrived for both locations in the last few weeks and I am still tremendously enjoying seeing them sprinkled about. Be it a single or a matching pair, the right lamp is like the perfect piece of jewelry for a room.

Lamp Love at WK

A sensational single lamp or better yet pair of them can brighten up, yes, I said it, space they grace. I like to think of them as jewelry for the room. They can be that final piece that just makes it all sing. In addition to adding light, they can also injected a huge amount of style. We always have a large selection at the shops, where often I won’t re-order a lamp as I like to keep it rotating & fresh. I also love finding vintage options and having them refurbished, like the Italian marble pair above. So many times they will have a one-of-a-kind feel as that is the only one we will stock. Plus, for the shops as well as my advice for home, I really prefer each lamp be different. It creates that layered look/vibe I like so much. Here are a few at the moment that are spicing up displays.
